Do not intend to file insurance claim for stolen laptop

My son stayed at this Hotel doing a stock market training course with his father last month.His XPS computer was stolen from his locked hotel room. The hotel said they would see about filing a corporate claim for the laptop that was stolen, but has been evasive about this, and it does not appear to have happened. When called last week, the manager was not available as he had knee surgery? It appears that they are not willing to replace a $4000 computer that was stolen from a locked hotel room at their facility. I would liek the Hotel to take action. A police report was filed, but they have not found the person who stole it or the laptop. It was only two weeks old.
